Thank you – and thanks for the endnotes too – I knew about the lance of Longinus, but i’d never heard the Undine story.

I just though of researching a little about some of the references in this chapter, I kinda like the Undine story.

Another interesting note about the spear for those who don’t know, Hitler was extremely interested in it(and the occult in general) because its said to grant victory to its wielder and had supposedly recovered/stole it from a museum or something in Austria before he conquered much of western Europe. The story goes on that the U.S. eventually stole it back which caused Hitler’s army to implode in on itself, and depending on which version you’ve heard either the CIA has it now or it was returned to Austria after the war.

I have heard of this story, Hitler was very fond of the occult that he incorporated it in everything he does. The symbol of the Swastika was based from mystical symbols derived from Ancient Nordic Mythology that was believed to bring power to the bearer. One of the funny things that has been reported about this topic is that when the Allied forces started using radar, Hitler thought they were using black magic to predict his attacks so he countered by using dousing rods and pendulums to detect enemy attacks as well.
